About INFOTECH
Institute of Arts and Sciences

The era of information technology has dawned on us in a manner by which the movement of our economy and culture define the way we live our lives. The escalating internet use through chat, web surface and, email is now part of almost everyone’s undertaking, which years back is only available to the elite who can afford to send their children to high paying universities and avail of such techno-wonder.

Recognizing the techno-relevance, the corporate arena has been shifting towards computerization of their systems for faster and more efficient processes. Hence, to provide everyone the equal opportunity to keep abreast with the global trending and skills requirements, a non-traditional computer technology education must be available.

It is this reality that has moved the founding chairman and his associates, known as proponents of quality education, to conceptualize an institution affordable to common masses that shall enable graduates to face the fast-paced and high profile corporate world head on.

In 1990, Infotech Computer School was born. It had a database-intensive and relevant curriculum making it the pioneer in adopting the term Infotech or IT. One of its distinction emerged from the fact that it is authorized and accredited by both the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), guaranteeing students of full accreditation and endorsement of academic units earned. Recognized as one of the dynamic institution in Metro Manila, The INFOTECH Chairman of the Board actively participates in the Technical-Vocational plans and programs as one of the leaders of the Tech-Voc Associations and as an informal consultant-contributor of TESDA Central Office.

The first INFOTECH site was housed at the 3rd floor of Manuela Complex-3, EDSA Mandaluyong City. Due to the overwhelming response of the communities in Mandaluyong, Pasig and San Juan, and the successful testimonies of its graduates, Infotech grew rapidly. In 1991, five braches were opened: one in Boni, Mandaluyong City, San Pablo, Laguna and Lemery, Batangas. A pre-school at Regalado Fairview, Quezon City was also opened that same year.

Seven years later, Infotech gained College Status by passing the stringent standards of government regulations thus, Infotech Institute of Arts and Sciences became known. After its successful years of bringing quality education, Infotech suffered tremendous exigency because of the proliferation of computer learning centers all over the metropolis. However, despite the stiff competition and a three-year setback, the school was able to sustain and fight for its competitive existence.

To date, the school has confirmed over 10,000 graduates and over 8,600 of them based on reported employment data, are now working in different multinational companies here in the Philippines and abroad. INFOTECH currently maintains an average of 5,000 students distributed among twelve academic centers located at Mandaluyong City, Pasig City, Makati City, Cebu City, Sucat, Quiapo, Mrcos Hi-way Ligao City and Dau. Each campus is personally managed by able Academic Center Directors, Academic Heads, Administrative Officers and competent instructors and instructresses.

With the growing demand for high-paced technological advancement, Infotech formed a research and development (R&D) team that develops and studies various methods, learning systems, curriculum upgrades and implementing techniques that will set the trend for future academic endeavors. This R&D team has become the brain behind the successful institution of new courses like Caregiver, Nursing Assistant, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Cellular Repair and other Information Technology courses. Selected administrators, instructors and students comprise this management understudy program.

InfoTech Shifts in High Gear

Taking the challenge of moving forward to the baccalaureate avenue of CHED despite enjoying the the comforts of mastery on two-year course program for almost 20 years, INFOTECH now offers 4-year courses in HRM and Information Technology as the back bone of the existing 2-year program of the said courses, in line with the ladderized education program of both TESDA and CHED.

While several colleges offer similar course packages, INFOTECH continuously seek to address the prevalent problem of skills mismatch through consistent research and dialogues with the industry partners.

Hence, after securing the recognition and accreditation from CHED of its HRM and IT baccalaureate courses, INFOTECH shall launch its "first in the Philippines" finishing course in the realm of information technology. Having recently forged a partnership with MAPLES ESM Technologies of India, INFOTECH and MAPLES shall jointly provide trainings on Remote Infrastructure Management and IBM Mainframes which is scheduled to commence on January 2010.

To ensure the quality of the training, the partnership shall only assign in-house trainers of MAPLES for special teaching assignment in the Philippines, while the stringently selected Filipino IT Specialists shall be sent to the MAPLES Headquarters in India for intensive training and industry immersion.

This unique finishing course venture shall be available to all graduates of Computer Engineering, BS Computer Science and BS Information Technology.

In view of the growing demand for Remote Infrastructure Management (RIM), IBM insider claimed that there is a radical global demand for practitioners of the said skill which forced MAPLES, a major provider of technical manpower of IBM to seek Filipino talents to fill-in the widening demand gap in the industry.

Through the League of Offshoring and Outsourcing Partners@ Philippines, the national federation of technical –vocational schools led by its illustrious Chairman, Dr. Hernando Perez and Mr. Enrique Pingol, President, the training program shall eventually be offered in the entire Philippine Archipelago.
